We present the Patrik Foil+ V2 sail.
High aspect course racing foil sail with maximum performance, a wide range of use, and excellent camber rotation!
8-batten, 4 cam
High-load X-ply panel
High-aspect.
OVERVIEW
Upwind and downwind are the preferred racing angles for this specific foil sail design. With this very stable and easy-to-control sail, you can stay fully focused on your tactics. The stronger the wind, the more you'll feel like, "Wow, this sail has a wide range of use!" Just keep racing on the same size when others desperately rush back to the beach to rig their smaller sails.

SHAPE
LUFF CURVE
Foiling is a smooth sport. The sail and body position are not affected by the movement of the chop and therefore do not require a lot of twist and reflex on the mast and luff curve. The straighter luff curve has the weight centered more over the base plate and makes the sail feel light and maneuverable.
OUTLINE
The high aspect ratiomakes the Foil+ highly efficient like a narrow blade cutting through the air. Perfect aerodynamics are the key to success in foil racing.
LOOSE LEECH
A very tight leech at the two battens above the boom keeps the power within the sail for early planing and upwind angle. A slight increasing loose leech throughout the middle towards the top releases just enough pressure to ensure the top speed.
CAMBERS & SPACERS
A metal bracket prevents squashing the edge of the sail body. With a choice of six different camber sizes (length/diameter), we achieve the optimal camber pressure for sail body stability while maintaining a smooth camber rotation. The additional spacers give the individual rider the opportunity to fine-tune the sail to his individual needs.
CONSTRUCTION
Racing is a "no-compromise" art in Patrik's dictionary. Everything is optimized with peak performance in mind.
The main panels are 5 MIL clear monofilm in the boom area and then 4 MIL in the upper sail body.
Why use clear monofilm? Because this material is a few grams lighter than its colored alternative and gives the most direct feel in acceleration and top speed.
For the foot panel and a minimalistic area around the clew, we kept a good impact resistance 5 MIL red x-ply materials. These are often stressed when your sail rubs on the deck grip of the ultra-wide racing boards. Along the leech, you will find 5 MIL (closer to the clew) and 4 MIL (closer to the top) clear x-ply to keep the rear edge of the sail stable and aerodynamically clean even in high-wind choppy conditions.
All the panels inside the mast sleeve are made from the thickest monofilm available, which provides the best stiffness and a locked profile where the main shape is. For the mast sleeve itself, we reduced the amount of PE fabric material (which absorbs tiny amounts of water) and maximized the 2 MIL x/scrim-ply area instead, which is super light but still has the highest number of wires/m2: so it's perfect for spreading the load amongst the whole sail body.
All these tweaks create a pure foil racing sail that is stable on the flight and provides with with all the controlled power you need to win modern foil races in challenging light wind conditions.
TRIM
The Foil+ needs a good amount of downhaul force to create the needed stability on the sail body.
The suggested loose leech amount is indicated by connecting an imaginary line through the black/white color transition on the batten pockets. Make sure you don't put too much downhaul so the leech is still closed above the boom to allow the sail to pull you upwind.
PRO TIPS
"Out of all the brands, I find the PATRIK Foil+ the best sail for upwind/downwind events or long-distance races. It's really stable and light in your hands. With increasing wind speed, this sail accelerates in an amazing way while always keeping its stability and a perfect profile."
