A Pig shape shifts the wide nose from the center toward the back, which offers two distinct advantages: The wide tail anchors better into the curl, which aids noserides, rather than relying on the wide glide area at the front of a typical noserider shape. This smaller nose area makes the Pig more responsive on the nose for small adjustments and technical noseriding.
The other effect is the “hip” in the plan shape—the curvature of the outline in the last third of the board. This creates a much more responsive turning point than the usual straight rails of traditional noseriders and allows for much faster changes in direction.
The Minvielle ED Pig also features a knifed deck rail at the tail to maintain the board’s thickness underfoot, but it’s a super responsive rail shape for maneuvering a large board.
I’ve added the ED Pig to my quiver for noseride events when the waves are clean and lined up. I can hold the noseride longer and get back into the pocket quickly when the wave slows down.

Torq Epoxy Composite offers high-performance shapes in our state-of-the-art epoxy layup. These boards provide the best balance between lightness and durability. Using our own unique lamination process, we’re able to incorporate a very strong fiberglass layup consisting of 6oz and 4oz layers in a three-ply deck and a two-ply tail (with a four-layer rail overlap) combined with high-density EPS foam, while still achieving a board weight comparable to that of a lightweight fiberglass layup.
The result is a lightweight yet very stable board with good flex characteristics and, as with all torq’s, an excellent price-performance ratio.
