Description

We present the Point-7 SALT PRO Wave 2024 sail.

A balanced 4-batten outline for radical riding in any wave conditions.

Designed for:

Hitting the waves at high speed to pull off the latest aerial wave moves, whether you’re jumping or going for aerials. The right balance between drive on the bottom turn and neutral on/off performance when going for the cutback.

About this sail:

• Four-batten wave sail
• Fast and agile while riding waves
• Quick to respond to new-school wave sailing moves
• Ultra-light in your hands
• Plenty of usable bottom-end power
• Soft and forgiving
• On-off capability
• Formidable weapon on the wave and in transition
• Dual rigging options depending on conditions

What's new:

A completely new outline for all sizes, ensuring the best performance ratio between mast and boom length. A redefined balance to improve efficiency based on wind strength. A stronger base construction has been developed to prevent breakage caused by typical impacts—such as falls on the base, knees, nose board, or shore breaks.

Its Character:

Fast riding on the waves, quick wave-sailing maneuvers. Ultra-light in your hands—adjust the backhand power, and it’s ready to deliver precision based on wind strength and direction. Balanced in your hands, the power comes from a high forward position, with its punchy delivery softened by the stretch in the luff sleeve and large Dacron luff panel. Once pressure builds and the draft reaches its elastic limit, the response from the sail’s high skin tension takes over, providing crisp, precise handling and inspiring the rider to explore its maneuvering potential. On the wave, the Point-7 SALT PRO Wave 2024 delivers plenty of usable drive through the bottom turn, while always remaining controllable. At the critical moment, it has more of an on-off character, with the Dacron panel allowing the sail to “exhale” and become light and easy to maneuver. When rigged, the 3-cm luff length extension is recommended to provide extra play. When applying downhaul, the Salt’s mid-leech falls away quickly while the upper leech remains taut, its looseness masked in part by the large mini batten. There is plenty of luff curve in the sail’s leading edge, forcing a good deal of shape into the draft, while the two lower battens retain excellent rotation around the mast

On the water:

The Point-7 SALT PRO Wave 2024 delivers plenty of usable low-end power, with the large luff panel expanding to significantly increase the depth of the draft. The power delivery is soft and forgiving, flowing through both hands, with the center of effort focused on the rider. When ridden in properly powered conditions, it transforms into a power-hungry beast, locked in and dancing across the water as it surges forward with every gust. It moves smoothly around the rider thanks to the softness in the luff panel, allowing you to keep the pedal to the metal in attack mode, even in the most challenging conditions. Speed brings light handling, which—combined with the Salt’s on-off response when eased out—makes it a formidable weapon on the wave and during transitions.

Materials:

- X-ply Anti-UV window only where it would not obstruct perfect vision.
- 5-mil central transparent monofilm visibility window.
- 5-mil Anti-UV X-ply base panel for protection against accidents.
- 4-mil Anti-UV X-ply laminate for high reactivity.
- Battens: X-ply alternate batten pockets for lighter weight and reflex. Four-batten construction.
- 2.5-mil Anti-UV X-ply laminate for light weight and forgiving landings. (Black version)

Target Development:

The Point-7 SALT PRO Wave 2024 has undergone continuous evolution since its initial release. Each size is tested separately according to the wind strength for which the sail is designed. Specific modifications have been made to each size to create the perfect sail range.

Rigging:

For wave riding, the leach slack should measure 15 cm from the leach to the first mini batten at the top. (-3 cm from the maximum downhaul setting). For boom length, set the lower ring to the minimum boom setting specified in the technical specifications. For bump and jump, adjust the downhaul all the way to 1 cm from the end of the required setting, and use the higher ring with the maximum setting specified in the specs. Tighten the top batten, but only enough to remove wrinkles from the other battens—do not overtighten them. The Point-7 SALT PRO Wave 2024 PRO has been developed specifically for use with C80 RDM masts.

Point-7

Developed by PWA professional windsurfer Andrea Chucchi

Point-7 is an Italian windsurfing sail brand founded in 2005 by Andrea Cucchi—a former PWA pro who, after more than a decade on the World Cup Tour, had his own vision of how a sail should truly function.

The brand was born from a concrete idea: to create something new and revitalize windsurfing for a new generation. No corporate conglomerate, no investor-driven project. Andrea Cucchi remains the driving force to this day—he tests prototypes himself on the water and develops sails from the perspective of a rider who knows exactly where to make adjustments in the design.

The Point-7 loft and the design team are located just a few kilometers from the water, on Lake Garda, where Cucchi himself can be found on the water year-round. The result is sails with a distinctive character: precise in handling, with plenty of power—recognizable by their iconic black sails.

The Point-7 Black Team

2016 was the year that Point-7 finally established itself on the world map of racing: Matteo Iachino became PWA Slalom World Champion, Lena Erdil was PWA Slalom World Runner-Up, and Point-7 simultaneously won the PWA Constructor Championship—the world title for the best sail brand in the World Cup. Three Point-7 riders in the top 10 of the world rankings—no other brand had ever achieved that before.

The Black Team is a group of professional windsurfers and developers who compete at the highest national and international levels while also being directly involved in product development.

Q-Bond – Ultrasound Instead of Needle and Thread

With Q-Bond, Point-7 has introduced a manufacturing technology in which the sail panels are ultrasonically welded together, eliminating traditional seams. Point-7 is the first windsurfing brand to use this technology. The result: a stiffer sail profile, more drive, a more direct response to gusts, and a seamless transition between panels that improves aerodynamics.

The entire Point-7 product line is available at Wind Lounge

We are the Point-7 Pro store

And team member Mario knows the Point-7 sails like no one else.

Point-7 is one of our best-selling brands here at Wind Lounge, and there’s a reason for that: Mario, co-founder and “Head of Windsurfing Consulting,” has personally tested nearly the entire Point-7 sail range himself: from freeride models to slalom sails. He knows the differences between the models not from the Point-7 website, but because he’s been riding them on the water for years.

What this means for you: If you’re interested in a Point-7 sail from us, you won’t get generic buying advice—you’ll get the assessment of someone who’s actually handled these sails himself. We’re happy to answer exactly which model is the right fit for your sailing area, your sailing style, and your existing setup.

Frequently Asked Questions About Point-7

with answers from Mario

Who are Point-7 sails suitable for?

Point-7 sails are generally suitable for all windsurfers. However, especially with Point-7, it’s clear that all sail models have their specific areas of application. Point-7 has set the standard, particularly in slalom, freerace, and freeride. Point-7 is therefore particularly well-suited for windsurfers who know exactly what they want from their gear. That’s where you can get that extra bit of performance!

Where are Point-7 sails manufactured?

Point-7 sails are developed in Italy—on Lake Garda, where founder Andrea Cucchi spends the entire year on the water himself, testing new models under real-world conditions. Cucchi insists on testing every prototype himself before it goes into production. Ultimately, the sails are produced in Sri Lanka, at one of the largest windsurfing sail factories in the world.

Will the Point-7 sails fit my existing mast?

That depends on the specific model and its IMCS rating. Point-7 provides clear mast recommendations for its sails. Constant Curve is the standard for almost all masts. Many models are therefore compatible with standard masts from any brand—but especially for high-performance sails with more specific requirements, it’s worth checking. Just give us a quick call or send us a message—we’ll check compatibility with your setup for free.

What sets Point-7 apart from other windsurfing sail brands?

The key difference is the direct link between competition and mass-produced products—across the entire product line. Andrea Cucchi consistently develops and optimizes for performance based on his personal (!) experience as a PWA athlete. The result is sails with a distinct character—not for everyone, but all the better for those who want them.

Does Point-7 also offer beginner sails?

Of course. Whether you’re just starting out or getting back into it after a long break, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Point-7. But the selection here is actually limited. If you’re unsure whether Point-7 is the right choice for you, just ask us—we’ll recommend something that suits you and your skill level, even if it’s a more affordable sail from another brand.
