We present the JP Australia Slalom S-TEC 2026.
Full Control, Full Speed
Control and top speed—that’s exactly what you need to make it to the podium. JP’s five slalom boards are built to blast at PWA competition speeds, jibe at full speed, and maintain precise control across a wide range of conditions. Their stability also benefits lighter riders, who can stay in control even when overpowered while still accelerating extremely fast. The new SL 72 takes performance to the next level, with optimized hull aerodynamics, refined rails and deck shapes, and a higher waterline, allowing it to cut effortlessly through chop, accelerate faster, and remain stable even during the toughest jibes. The S TEC Construction combines a sleek look with lighter weight and greater stiffness, enabling earlier planing, easier handling, and higher top speeds. Whether you’re aiming for the podium or pushing your personal limits, the SL delivers the perfect balance of power, responsiveness, and confidence.
S TEC
The S TEC construction, used in all JP race boards, delivers very low weight and high stiffness. This is achieved through a sophisticated design concept.
- No color
- Anti-slip only in the foot zones
- Compact pads with minimal EVA and adhesive
- A refined, manually tuned laminate with individually prepared fibers
This construction enables earlier planing, easy handling, and maximum performance on the water.
The New 72
In the extremely competitive slalom scene, we’re constantly working to improve our lineup. The SL 72 has been redesigned to significantly increase top speed. To achieve this, the board was trimmed higher in the water, reducing the wetted surface area and drag. This lets you ride faster while maintaining greater stability and control in rough conditions.
During development, the hull’s aerodynamics were optimized, particularly in the nose area. A newly designed rail and deck shape in front of the Baseplate ensure clean airflow over the deck, keeping the board stable and efficient even in challenging conditions. Toward the stern, the outline and deck shape were smoothed out, especially around the rear footstrap, providing a more connected feel and a comfortable stance.
These updates also improve jibe performance. You’ll have more control when jibing in and more stability when accelerating out of the turn, making you more competitive not only at top speed but also around the mark.
Key features carried over from the rest of the range
- A gentle scoop rocker line and transforming V Flow. Pronounced in front of the Baseplate (mast foot), flatter between the footstraps, and opening up again toward the tail. This reduces drag, ensures a high and loose planing position, and makes jibing easier, allowing you to exit with more speed.
- High Apex Rail Shape, which generates lift for early planing, acceleration, and stability during jibes.
- Tail Tuck Line with a double-stepped cutout, for maximum control, release, and speed.
- Strategically placed footstraps for efficient power transfer and easy entry and exit during jibes.
The Basic Concept of Our SLALOM Line
When designing and fine-tuning this line, the focus is on increasing average speed across the entire course. The jibe is particularly important, as this is where the greatest time savings are possible during a race. The goal is to maintain speed throughout the entire jibe and exit it faster.
The shapes provide a stable, locked-in riding position. Much less effort is required to reach and maintain top speed, and all models launch extremely early and cover a wide range of conditions. The wide tails provide plenty of leverage on the fin, which increases power and control.
The smoothly contoured decks ensure a super comfortable riding position. You conserve energy and can push harder on long runs.
All sizes feature an additional pad wedge between the rear footstraps for a more direct feel of the board.
Each board size has its own tail cutout configuration to achieve the perfect mix of release and long rail line for control. On the larger boards, the first cutouts start further forward, and the curve of the cutouts becomes more pronounced toward the tail. The goal is always efficient water release and a smooth flow of water around the fin, so the fin receives constant pressure for power and top speed. The Slalom 62.5, 66, 72, and 76 feature double-step cutouts, where the two steps are of different heights.
From the center of the board to the nose, the apex of the rails has been raised. This creates more volume in the rail, which helps you execute jibes faster and with greater control.
In addition to the aerodynamic deck shape, we’ve incorporated an extra recess for the deck box. This lowers the Baseplate, providing more control at top speed and during jibes. “Close the gap”—the lower sail foot closes the gap between the sail and the deck for maximum efficiency.
Six key design elements guarantee the perfect setup for PWA racing
Dual Tail Outlines. Each board size has its own unique outline. The cutouts reduce the outline width and the wetted surface area on the hull for less drag and more speed. The deck outline above the cutouts is wider, so the rear footstrap sits further out. This allows you to apply more pressure to the fin for greater control and speed. The double-step cutouts on the 62.5 and 76 are part of these customizations.
Transforming Vee Flow on the hull.
Pronounced in front of the Baseplate, flatter between the footstraps, and widening again toward the stern. This makes the board ride high and loose, smoothing out chop. The curved rail line makes jibes smoother and helps you come out at full speed.
Compact Concept.
The parallel outline in the midsection of the short boards maximizes the planing surface at the Baseplate, instantly launching the board into a glide.
Thin Profile.
It reduces wind resistance, especially in the nose area. Combined with the aerodynamic deck, this keeps the center of mass centered, which increases control at top speed.
Deck Shapes Stance.
A small but important advantage. The ergonomic deck ensures a relaxed stance, allowing you to focus entirely on riding fast.
Deck Shapes Efficiency.
The aerodynamic deck reduces swing weight, and the additional deck box recess allows the Baseplate to sit lower. This ensures the sail foot seals perfectly, delivering maximum efficiency and providing additional control during full jibes and at high speeds.
The boards feature a Deep Tuttle Box and are not approved for foiling.
