Introducing the Loftsails Switchblade 2026/2027.
Few sails can look back on such a long and strong history as the Loftsails Switchblade. Born from the high-performance heritage ofthe Racingblade, the Switchblade brings that same racing DNA to a more accessible freerace setup with a 3-cam profile - for brutal acceleration and effortless speed.
For 2026, the Switchblade has been refined all around:
A higher aspect ratio and shorter Booms provide a lighter, more agile feel in the hand. New luff curves and adjusted batten angles improve balance and shift the center of pressure and weight lower for even smoother and more controlled handling. The slimmer profile and slightly lowered foot area add power to the setup, especially when riding at full power—the sail feels locked in, efficient, and super stable across a wide wind range.
At the heart of the Switchblade's stability are the tubular battens, known for their stiffness and responsiveness – normally a race-only technology. New for 2026: the 30% lighter TekCam 3 system improves rotation, allows for larger batten angles and supports the refined new profile – without compromising on rigging or handling.
Durability is also taken to a new level:
New 5 mil panels in the foot area and a reinforced 50 mm wide, triple-stitched mast pocket seam can withstand years of freerace sessions. The mast pocket itself is now slightly wider and equipped with 2 mil quad-axial laminate panels on the sides - saving weight, especially when the sail is wet. The full X-Ply construction remains, of course, for proven strength and durability.
The Switchblade remains available in two construction variants:
-
Standard version: 5.0 mil foot panel, 4.0 mil X-Ply window, 4.0 mil Bi-Ply panels at the top.
-
HD version: Same foot panel & window, but with 2.0 mil quad-axial laminate in the upper area – for those who want maximum robustness.
As with the other top models from Loftsails, the following also apply here Double-layer Dacron head panels are used for easy rolling and long durability. New is a 5 mil Kevlar-reinforced clew panel that extends to the batten above the fork for more protection and longer life, both on the water and in the bag.
The 2026 design focuses on clean, functional minimalism: fewer unnecessary materials, better weight distribution, greater durability.
Conclusion:
The new Switchblade is much more than just a freerace engine—it is a finely tuned performance tool, built for adrenaline, control, and many, many sessions.
